What is the Michigan Antique Phonograph Society?
The Michigan Antique
Phonograph
Society
(MAPS) is registered with the State
of Michigan as a non-profit corporation. To become a member of MAPS and
receive the monthly newsletter, In The Groove (ITG), you must fill out a membership application and have a member of MAPS in good standing sponsor you. Your first year's dues must be included with your membership application.
A MAPS membership application is available on-line.
A membership information package is also available by mail from Phil & Eileen Stewart at the address below.
Membership dues are $25.00 per year for United States residents and US$32.00 per year for Canadian residents. Membership dues are US$37.00 per year for European residents. Membership dues are US$40.00 for Asia residents. (According to the U.S. Postal Service, MAPS members living in the following countries are in Asia: China, Japan, Korea, Israel, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa and United Arab Emirates (UAE). All dues paid in U.S. currency. Former members of MAPS who left in good standing may rejoin at any time without filling out a membership application by paying their dues for the current year.

- September 12 - Battle Creek, Michigan - MAPS meeting at 7:30 pm at the Village Community Center, 10450 Six Mile Road. Program will be on Bing Crosby's Duets.
- September 13 - Chamberlain, South Dakota - Auction of phonograph, horns, records, cylinders, cabinets, books, antique radios, etc. See the ad in Swap & shop on page 37 of the September In The Groove. Check Peterson Land Auction for a partial list and pictures. Auction will begin at 11:00 am at 1203 S. Main Street, Chamberlain.
- September 19-20 - Grafton, Wisconsin - Paramount Blues Festival at the Lime Kiln Park, S. Greenbay Road. Bring a lawn chair! Check Grafton Blues on-line.
- September 25 - Venice, California - Mikal Sandoval's Speakeasy Night at The Talking Stick, 1411 C. Lincoln Blvd. at 7:30 p.m. For info, call (310)450-1652 or check San Francisco Songbird on-line. Join us at the new Talking Stick for Mikal Sandoval's Speakeasy night. Hot dames to warm you up and air conditioning to cool you down! - September 28 - Hanson, Massachusetts - The next meeting of the Old Colony Antique Phonograph Society will be on Sunday, September 28 2008, at Old School House #4 on Rte. 27 (Main Street) in Hanson, Massachusetts beginning at 1:00 p.m. The theme of this meeting will be "Anything Edison," celebrating the MOCAPS participation in the "Adopt a Phonograph" program sponsored by the "Friends of Edison National Historic Site." We already have the makings of splendid "Timeline" display of phonographs for this event, which is also open to the general public. Also featured will be an original Edison movie from 1909, played on an original Edison "Kinetoscope" from 1912. Food donations are always welcome. All area MAPS members are cordially invited to attend.
- October 12 - Richfield, Ohio - Automated Music Show at the Quality Inn Richfield from 8:00 am-3:00 pm. See the ad on page 28 of the August ITG.
- October 12 - Wayne, New Jersey - Mechanical Music Extravaganza from 9:30 am - 3:30 pm at the Wayne Police Athletic League, 1 Pal Drive. Admission $6. Early buyer admission is $15.
- November 14-16 - Chicago, Illinois - Chicagoland Show: Antique Jukeboxes, slots, advertising. Doors open at 9:30 am. Call 800-999-3319 for more info or check the website.
- November 20 - Charlotte, Michigan - Preview and luncheon before the annual Stanton's Fall Music Machine Auction from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. See ad on page 9 of the August ITG.
- November 21-22 - Charlotte, Michigan - Stanton's Fall Music Machine Auction at 9:00 a.m. each day at the Eaton County Fairgrounds. See ad on page 9 of the August ITG.

OREGON TERRITORY
The Oregon Territory Antique Phonograph Society (OTAPS) includes
Oregon, Washington, part of Northern California, and Southwest Canada.
OTAPS is a MAPS Chapter and they have a OTAPS WWW page. For more information, contact Stan Stanford by e-mail.
WISCONSIN
The Wisconsin Chapter is currently under the excellent care of Robin and Joan Rolfs. Their latest project was co-authoring a book "Phonograph Dolls That Talk and Sing". The Wisconsin "Cheeseheads" are always encouraging the fun of interacting and sharing information and have an informative newsletter for its members. E-mail the Rolfs for chapter information and activities.
ALABAMA

INDIANA
Indiana's "Hoosier Antique Phonograph Society" chapter of MAPS President is Al Gentry. Paul Ladd of Fort Wayne organized the Indiana Chapter. Dick Oxenrider of Pierceton is the Indiana chapter treasurer and the newsletter editor is Tim McCormick. The chapter's web site is www.HoosierAntiquePhonographSociety.com.
NORTH and SOUTH CAROLINA
Good News! MAPS has expanded to North and South Carolina. Robert Barnes
of Charlotte, NC has organized the Carolina Chapter of MAPS and called
it the Carolinas Antique Music and Phonograph Society, CAMPS. Contact

COLORADO AND SURROUNDING STATES
The Old West Antique Phonograph Society (OWAPS) is another new addition
to the growing list of MAPS chapters. This chapter will serve Colorado
and surrounding states. For more information, contact Art

CALIFORNIA CHAPTER
The California Chapter has been named The Golden State Phonograph Society.

IOWA
